The Most Instagrammable Places in New Orleans

One of my favorite things to do in each place we visit is take all.the.photos! It’s even better when these locations are places where Poppy can play. It’s always easiest to catch a true smile (or adorable look of concentration) when she’s exploring. I’ve included those types of locations, as well as some all-time favorites of mine (and one or two we stumbled upon). So, in no particular order, here are the most Instagrammable places in New Orleans!

Cafe du Monde

56 Dreyfous Dr., New Orleans, LA 70124

With multiple locations, this is something you can easily fit into any trip. While we preferred the one in City Park, you can go to any of their locations for equally adorable pictures. My favorites were the ones of Poppy eating beignets, but make sure you ask for the free paper hat so you can get some adorable ones in that as well.

City Park

1 Palm Dr., New Orleans, LA 70124

I have to admit, I slept on City Park. I honestly had no idea what a great find this was (see that blog post here)! Between the playground pics and the ones of Poppy exploring nature, it was very hard to narrow them down. If you don’t mind doing a bit of walking, I’d highly suggest the trails. These allowed for amazing pictures with tons of variation.

French Quarter Balconies

Cross of Royal St. and Saint Peter St.

What pictures could be more quintessentially New Orleans than these beautiful balconies? If you’d like to take a picture in front of the balconies, I’d suggest waking up and getting to the French Quarter before the crowds arrive. We were able to stand in the street, because there were so few cars! The best thing about this location is that the balconies always look different, depending on the season or holiday. This means you could go back every trip and have a different picture!

Greetings From NOLA

2014 Magazine St., New Orleans, LA 70130

Full of vibrant colors, this mural is a must see! It first went up in 2019 as part of the Greetings Tour, which plans to paint a mural in every state. In addition to the obligatory pic where you capture the whole mural, I suggest taking some up close. This different viewpoint makes your picture a bit more unique and also gives you a better view of your little one!

Jackson Square

701 Decatur St., New Orleans, LA 70116

Jackson Square serves as an amazing backdrop to your photos. You could go for an iconic fountain picture (like we chose to do) or go more artsy by taking some in front of the many selections of street art. This location also gives your little one a chance to run around and play while you people watch. This is another location I’d suggest getting to early so you have less people in your shot.

Love Wins Locks

Mississippi River, near the Steamboat Natchez

This was something we stumbled upon while walking the riverfront and is one of my favorite pic locations. (I loved it so much, we had to come back twice!) I just love the urban look of all the metal, splashed with colors. Don’t even get me started on the message! In addition to the full view, make sure to take some of your little one exploring the locks.

St. Louis Cathedral

615 Pere Antoine Alley, New Orleans, LA 70116

While most people snag a picture of St. Louis Cathedral from Jackson Square, there really isn’t a bad location to take a picture of one of New Orleans’ most notable landmarks. We went for the full view of the Cathedral. The one of Poppy enamored with the statue of Pope John Paul II was an added bonus.
