If you’ve never gone on a mural hunt in Charlotte, NC, you need to drop what you’re doing and go! (No, but it seriously is really awesome!) There are so many unique murals that it was pretty hard to narrow down our favorites. We’re already planning another trip back to see what new murals have been added and to visit our favorites! Here are our picks for top instagrammable murals in Charlotte, NC.
Brooklyn Dance Mural
225 N Caldwell St. Charlotte, NC 28202
This large mural by Nick Napoletano is outside of Brooklyn nightclub in downtown Charlotte. The massive size, as well as the beautiful dancers, make this mural so intriguing. Since it’s outside of a nightclub, the parking lot is relatively empty during the day, which makes it the perfect time to snap some pictures.
Confetti Stripes Wall
424 East 36th Street Charlotte, NC 28205
The Confetti Stripes Wall is part of the Confetti Wall Series (two of which are found in Charlotte and the other in Columbus, GA), which is meant to be a visual representation of the quote “throw kindness like confetti.” The Confetti Stripes Wall does just that, with its bright colors and meaningful message: “make people feel loved today.” It’s found right next to Jeni’s ice cream, so show yourself some love and get an ice cream treat before you leave!
Confetti Hearts Wall
1920 Camden Rd. Charlotte, NC 28203
The Confetti Hearts Wall is the second mural, located in Charlotte, that is part of the Confetti Wall Series. The message in the heart reads, “Be Kind.” With its bright colors (I get conversation heart vibes) and amazing messages, this is one you must visit! Park in the parking lot for Jeni’s ice cream and walk around the corner into the alleyway. You’ll see it on your left. The location allows you to take pictures without a lot of onlookers.
Donut Wall
2116 Hawkins St. Charlotte, NC 28203
This vibrant (and yummy-looking) mural is on the back wall of the Krispy Kreme corporate building. This was definitely Poppy’s favorite mural, and she spent some time walking back and forth, pointing to all of the doughnuts. We actually had to take several photos as she kept changing her favorite one. If you pull into the Krispy Kreme parking lot, go all the way to the back of the building to park. This will give you easier access to the mural.
Main Library Quote
310 N. Tryon St. Charlotte, NC 28202
Okay, so I know this isn’t exactly a mural; however, it’s mural-adjacent, so I’m making it count. We actually stumbled upon this quote by accident, but the meaning was so perfect that we had to stop and explore. Found on one of the walls of the Main Library in uptown, the quote reads: “With childlike faith, I crack its spine to find a world of wisdom.” And honestly, what could be a better quote for a library?!
Uptown Farmers Market Mural
300 S. Davidson St. Charlotte, NC 28202
This two-story piece of art, by Curtis King, is meant to promote community and nutritious food. The bright colors of this mural, along with the fun theme, make it a perfect mural to see. It’s also so large that you can either take a picture of the entire mural, or do closer photos in smaller areas. This makes it look like a completely different mural! The concept behind the Uptown Farmers Market is also really cool. Check that out here.
